Elburn Troop 7

About Us

Overview & Philosophy

Scouts BSA Troop 7 is chartered by the Community Congregational Church in Elburn, Illinois.

Meetings are currently held from 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm on Monday evenings at the church. The church is located at the northeast corner of Shannon St. and Route 47 in Elburn. No meetings are held when Kaneland Schools are not in session. During the summer, meetings are held every other week.

Scouts BSA Troop 7 is part of the Potawatomi district. We participate in district-wide events like the Klondike Derby each winter. The troop also camps out on a monthly basis throughout the year; travels to a week long Summer Camp program each year; and has regularly sent crews on high adventure treks to Sea Base in Florida, Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Canoe trips in the Boundary Waters area along the Minnesota and Canadian borders.

Other activities include the annual Memorial Day parade, Elburn Days parade,  pancake breakfasts, Spring Flower Sale, Christmas Greenery Sale, popcorn fundraisers, roadside cleanup service work and other volunteer service projects from time to time.

Philosophy

The troop emphasizes the boy led philosophy originated with Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Boy Scouting and is affiliated with the Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The troop has an excellent reputation for Scouts earning the rank of Eagle, Scouting’s highest rank. This begins by Scouts developing leadership skills by holding one of the troop positions. Each troop position has its own set of responsibilities and duties that the assigned Scout is expected to perform.

The patrol method of Scouting together with rank advancement opportunities are emphasized for the Scouts of Troop 7.
